My name is Maaike, and I am a watercolor artist, illustrator, jeweler, and writer.

I studied Writing for Performance at HKU in Utrecht and wrote several plays, poetry, and published a collection of short stories.
I’ve always enjoyed drawing, but my main focus gradually shifted from writing to drawing and painting more when I moved to South America in 2015.
During the pandemic, I started painting watercolors on a daily basis and have continued to do so ever since.
I have moved frequently throughout my life, living in various countries such as Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, and Argentina.
I’ve never lived as long in one place as I’ve lived in Catamarca, in the northwest of Argentina, where I lived for seven years. In the beginning of 2026, I left that home behind and moved to Buenos Aires with my husband, a good dog, and an evil cat.
If I’m not painting, I’m making jewelry, because one cannot have too many occupations. 🙂
